COUGARS UPEND WINTER HAWKS — Rookie Parker Stanfield‘s fifth goal in his last five games was the winner as the visiting Prince George Cougars skated to a 4-1 victory over the Portland Winter Hawks in the lone Western Hockey League match-up on Monday, February 19th.

rGreg Gardner – with his 20th of the season – Marcus Watson and Kalvin Sagert also scored for the Cougars (17-40-1-3), who win back-to-back games for the first time since December. Real Cyr turned in a 40-save performance to earn the win. With the victory, the Cougars sit 18 points back of Kamloops for eighth place in the Western Conference.

rTravis Ehrhardt scored the only goal for the Winter Hawks (9-50-1-1), who see their losing streak hit 16 games. Kurtis Mucha turned aside 35 of 39 shots he faced in the defeat.
