rTEAM WHL SET TO BATTLE RUSSIAN SELECTS – Team WHL takes on the Russian Selects Wednesday night in Saskatoon, SK, in Game 5 of the 2005 ADT Canada-Russia Challenge.

rThe Russian team is 0-4 through the first four games of the series, having dropped two games to the QMJHL team, followed by two defeats to the OHL team.
r
rThe Russians have been led by 19-year-old forward Alexander Mayer, who has netted four goals in four games, and 19-year-old forward Sergey Ogorodnikov, who has one goal and three assists in four games.
r
rMeanwhile, Semen Varlamov and Ivan Kasutin have split netminding duties for the Russian Selects, with each having appeared in two games.
r
rTeam WHL, captained by Prince Albert Raiders pivot Kyle Chipchura, boasts plenty of offensive talent with the likes of Moose Jaw Warriors sniper Dustin Boyd – currently the WHL’s second-leading scorer – and Saskatoon Blades forward and San Jose Sharks prospect Devin Setoguchi.

rDevan Dubnyk of the Kamloops Blazers and Carey Price of the Tri-City Americans will share netminding duties for Team WHL.

rThe WHL has a perfect 4-0 record versus the Russian Selects through the previous two ADT Canada-Russian series’. In 2004, Team WHL notched 5-2 and 6-0 victories over the Russians, and also posted 4-1 and 7-1 wins over Russia in the 2003 series.

rTonight’s contest between Team WHL and the Russian Selects can be seen nationally on Rogers Sportsnet (8:00 p.m., MST), and will be broadcast locally in Saskatoon on Hot 93 FM.

r-Kamloops Blazers defenceman Keaton Ellerby has been suspended for three games for receiving a major and a game misconduct for slashing versus Medicine Hat on November 25. One game of the suspension has been served with two games remaining.

r-Tri-City Americans forward Jason Beeman has been suspended for four games for receiving a major and a game misconduct at Portland on November 26.
r
r-Tri-City Americans assistant coach Gord Frantti has been fined $250.00 for receiving a game misconduct at Portland on November 26.
