KOOTENAY ICE ARE REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS

Calgary – The Western Hockey League announced today that the Kootenay Ice have won the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as WHL regular season champions for the first time in franchise history.

rThe Ice regular season record was 47-15-7-3 for 104 points in 72 games played.

rThe Ice joined the Western Hockey League in 1996-97 as the Edmonton Ice and moved to Cranbrook in 1998-99. The Ice have twice captured the WHL Championship Trophy as the Playoff Champions in 1999-2000 and 2001-2002, winning the MasterCard Memorial Cup in 2002.

rThe Ice were led by Team MVPs Nigel Dawes, who recorded 50 goals and 76 points and goaltender Jeff Glass who recorded 34 wins and a very impressive 1.76 goals against average.

rScotty Munro was one of the original founders of the Western Hockey League. Munro was the general manager of the Estevan Bruins and the general manager and coach of the Calgary Centennials.
