Ice’s Dustin Sylvester named HUSKY WHL Player of the Month

CALGARY, AB. – The Western Hockey League announced today that forward Dustin Sylvester, of the Kootenay Ice, has been named the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for November.

rThe 19-year-old native of Kelowna, British Columbia, recorded 20 points through November, netting nine goals and 11 assists all while maintaining an outstanding plus minus rating of +12. Sylvester led all WHL players in the points per game category through November averaging 2.00 Pt/G and is currently on a nine game point streak which includes two shorthanded goals.

rSylvester’s consistent play helped the Kootenay Ice post a 6-4-0-0 record through the month of November, which included a five game win streak, and helped move the Ice into a tie for second place in the WHL Central Division with the Medicine Hat Tigers. His efforts also earned him a Three Star selection in four of the Ice’s 10 games played.

rSylvester’s play through the start of the WHL season earned him a selection to participate with Team WHL at the 2008 ADT Canada Russia Challenge which took place last week in Swift Current and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
