Hurricanes and Americans Make Trade
Lethbridge, AB -Hurricanes GM Roy Stasiuk announced the details of a trade completed this afternoon with the Tri-City Americans. The Canes acquired ’88 born forward Chris Inglis from the Ams in exchange for defenseman Colin Frederickson.
r
rThe 6’3â, 210 pound Inglis is a three year WHL veteran with 156 WHL games under his belt. Originally drafted by Tri-City in the fourth round (62nd overall) of the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft, Inglis has developed the size and strength of a prototypical WHL power forward. Inglis is a product of Calgary Minor Hockey and played Midget AAA with current âCanes goaltender, Michael Maniago, in the Buffaloes program.
r
râChris [Inglis] has been a player that has been on our radar screen for a few years. He’s a big winger who skates very well and provides us with more size among our forward group.â said Stasiuk âColin [Frederickson] is a big kid who needs opportunity and confidence. He may have a better opportunity to develop with the Americans at this point.â
r
rThe 6’2â, 198 pound Frederickson was a Hurricanes selection in the 9th Round (175th overall) of the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft. The 17 year old played only three games for the Hurricanes this season before being reassigned.
r
râI believe this is an excellent opportunity for both players to start fresh.â said Stasiuk adding âBoth are talented, hard working individuals and this will hopefully be a case of being with the right team at the right time.â
