GIANTS PICK UP OILERS PROSPECT FROM KAMLOOPS
The Vancouver Giants have announced they have acquired 18 year-old defenceman MAX GORDICHUK and a 5th round WHL Bantam Draft Pick in 2005 from the Kamloops Blazers. In exchange, the Giants will give Kamloops a 3rd round WHL Bantam Draft Pick in 2006.

rGordichuk is one of the biggest players in the WHL, standing 6’5â?, 225 lbs. The Kelowna, B.C. native was originally a 1st round bantam draft pick of the Regina Pats in 2001 (15th overall), but was dealt to the Blazers in 2002. Last year in his rookie WHL season, he played in 70 games, recorded 8 assists, and collected 54 penalty minutes. This past summer, Gordichuk was selected in the 6th Round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers (177th overall).

rThe Giants now have 25 players on their active roster (2 goalies, 8 defenceman, and 15 forwards).

rGordichuk will join the Giants for practice tomorrow afternoon and play his 1st game in a Giants uniform Friday night at home against the Brandon Wheat Kings (7:30pm).
