Darren Helm Named the CHL Player of the Week
Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League announced today that Medicine Hat Tigers forward Darren Helm is the CHL Player of the Week.

rHelm scored six goals and eight points last week while leading the Tigers to a 3-0-0-0 record. Darren opened the week with two goals in a 7-0 win against the visiting Regina Pats. On Saturday, Helm scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in a 5-2 win against the visiting Saskatoon Blades. Finally on Sunday, Darren put the finishing touches on his impressive week with a hat-trick and also added an assist in a 7-4 win over the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes.

rDaren Machesney of the Brampton Battalion was the OHL Player of the Week after posting a 2-0-0-0 record last week. Machesney picked up a shutout over the Sudbury Wolves and also helped the Battalion defeat the Guelph Storm by a score of 5-1. Machesney had a goals against average of 0.50 and a save percentage of .982. Stephane Goulet of the Moncton Wildcats was the QMJHL’s Offensive Player of the Week after scoring five goals and nine points in four games last week. The QMJHL’s Defensive Player of the Week was another member of the Moncton Wildcats. Goaltender Josh Tordjman went undefeated with a 3-0-0-0 record and picked up a shutout on the week. Tordjman had a save percentage of .960 while averaging one goal allowed per game.
