CANADA-WEST CONFERENCE REPORT – University of Manitoba Bisons goaltender Krister Toews has been named the Canada-West Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending November 13th.

rThe 22-year-old product of Kleefeld, MB, helped the Bisons to two wins over the UBC Thunderbirds on the weekend, including posting a 35-save shutout in the Bisons 4-0 win on Friday, November 11th.

rToews, a sophomore Arts student at U of M, also posted a solid 42-save performance to help the Bisons to a 6-3 win over the T-Birds to complete the sweep on Saturday, November 12th.

rThe 6’2″, 170-pound netminder appeared in 123 regular-season games over three seasons with the Portland Winter Hawks in the Western Hockey League, amassing a 46-54-11 record.

rIn other Canada-West news, University of Saskatchewan Huskies forward Dean Beuker has been named the Canada-West/Husky WHL Graduate of the Month for October after scoring 10 goals and 19 points in 11 games for the Huskies.

rBeuker, 24, spent four seasons in the WHL with the Winter Hawks and Regina Pats.
