CHL Announces Schedule format for the 2006 MasterCard Memorial Cup
Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League today announced the schedule format for the 2006 MasterCard Memorial Cup, which will be held from Friday May 19 through Sunday May 28 in Moncton, New Brunswick.

rFor the first time, the round robin portion of the tournament schedule begins on Friday. The schedule change provides an off-day between the semi-final game on the following Friday and the championship final game on Sunday May 28.

r”We are pleased to announce this new schedule format for the MasterCard Memorial Cup,” said CHL President David Branch. “This is our national championship and we felt that an adjustment was needed to the current format to ensure that both teams participating in the final game have suitable time to be rested and prepared for the most important game of our season. We are confident that this adjustment is in the best interests of our athletes, as well as the fans who make this such an enjoyable event every year.”
