Winterhawks’ Kehler named WHL Goaltender of the Week
Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Portland Winterhawks goaltender Cole Kehler has been named the WHL Goaltender of the Week and the league nominee for Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending January 29, 2017.
A 19-year-old product of Altona, MB, Kehler went 1-0-0-0 this past week, with a 1.00 goals-against average and .979 save percentage.
On Friday, January 27, Kehler made 47 saves in a 4-1 win at Everett and was named first star for his efforts.
Through 37 appearances this his third WHL season and first with the Winterhawks, Kehler is 18-14-0-2 with a 3.15 GAA and .910 SV%.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound goaltender has amassed a career record of 22-32-2-2 with a 3.86 GAA and .887 SV%.
Kehler was originally selected in the sixth round (123rd) by the Kamloops Blazers at the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.
