Winterhawks Captain Chyzowski commits to University of Denver
Portland, Ore.- Portland Winterhawks Kyle Chyzowski has announced his commitment to the University of Denver.
The 20-year-old is in his final season of WHL eligibility and is expected to join the Pioneers for 2025-26.
Chyzowski has dominated in his fifth season as a Winterhawk, leading his team with 37 goals and 53 assists for 90 points in 55 games.
The Surrey, B.C. product has potted two hat tricks and 14 games where he registered three or more points.

Originally drafted by Portland in the third round of the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft, Chyzowski has gone on to play 262 regular-season games with the Winterhawks.
He’s hit major milestones in his final campaign, tallying 86 goals and 130 assists for 216 points, while surpassing 1,500 faceoff wins.
The 5-foot-10, 171-pound centreman has also suited up for 38 playoff matches, highlighted by a run to the 2024 WHL Championship Series.
Chyzowski led the Winterhawks in goals (9) and picked up a pair of assists over 18 games in the 2024 postseason.
He was named the 49th Captain in Winterhawks history in October after wearing the ‘A’ from 2022-2024.
Last fall, Chyzowski also attended Tampa Bay Lightning Training Camp as a free-agent invitee.
Portland (31-22-2-1) sits third in the U.S. Division as the Hawks try to lock down a 14th straight trip to the WHL Playoffs.
The Winterhawks are back in action as they visit the Kamloops Blazers (20-31-4-1) on Wednesday, February 26.
