WHL Tonight: Farkas fantastic as Royals usurp Rockets in shootout
Kelowna Rockets at Victoria Royals – Scoring & Highlights
Another light night of action in the Western Hockey League saw just a single game, with the Victoria Royals and Kelowna Rockets playing to a 4-3 final in the shootout in favour of the home side.
Through 40 minutes, the game looked like a cakewalk for the Rockets. Gary Haden’s second of the season opened the scoring in favour of Victoria, but goals from 2020 NHL Draft prospect Pavel Novak, Sean Comrie, and Ethan Ernst made it a 3-1 game for the Rockets midway through the middle frame.
With the Royals needing a spark after the third Kelowna goal, Farkas took over between the pipes and stopped everything for the rest of the game, including 16 shots in regulation and overtime as well as protecting the net on all three shootout attempts.
Will Warm and Kaid Oliver scored early in the third to bring the two teams back into a tie. Oliver then scored the only goal in the shootout to complete the comeback.
