WHL Playoffs on Shaw: Wheat Kings Clash with Rebels in Game 5

CALGARY, AB – John Quenneville and the Brandon Wheat Kings look to close out the WHL Eastern Conference Championship as they clash with Luke Philp and a feisty Red Deer Rebels squad in Game 5 on Friday night, live on SHAW HD channel 304 at (7:30pm CT/6:30pm MT).

John Quenneville and the Brandon Wheat Kings doubled up the Rebels by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday night in Red Deer to grab a commanding 3-1 series lead. Wheat Kings forward Tim McGauley netted the game winner and added an assist in the victory. Quenneville has been outstanding for the Wehat Kings on both ends of the ice as he has collected 22 points (12g-10a) to go along with a stellar plus-13 rating. Brandon owns a 10-1-0 record when leading after 40 minutes of play in the post-season and have outshot their opponent on 12 occasions.

The Mastercard Memorial Cup host Red Deer Rebels seek to stave off elimination with a win in Brandon tonight. Rebels forward Luke Philp is third in team scoring with 13 points (4g-9a) while teammate Adam Helewka leads the Club with nine goals and 18 points. Special teams have contributed to the Rebels success as they possess a potent power play that is operating at a 25.9% success rate.

Brandon and Red Deer each won two games in their four regular season match-ups this year.

The winner of this series will go on to play the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL Championship.
