WHL Playoffs on Access: Rebels and Pats Square Off in Game 7

CALGARY, AB – The Red Deer Rebels and the Regina Pats square off in Game 7 of their Round 2 series this evening, live on Access Communications at (7:00pm MT/6:00pm PT). The series is tied at 3-3 with the winner moving on to face the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL Eastern Conference Championship.

The MasterCard Memorial Cup host Red Deer Rebels will have home ice advantage for Game 7 of this series that has gone back and forth. Red Deer has won all three of their prior contests with Regina at home while the Pats collected wins in all three of their home games. Rebels forward Luke Philp leads the team in scoring in this series with seven points (2g-5a) while forwards Jake DeBrusk and Brandon Hagel each have six points. Red Deer owns a 3-0-0 record in post-season games decided by one goal and has an electric power play unit that has converted 25.6% of the time, scoring 10 times along the way.

The Regina Pats are seeking their second series upset of the WHL Playoffs after knocking off the Central Division Champion Lethbridge Hurricanes in Round 1. Pats forward Cole Sanford leads all skaters in scoring with eight points (4g-4a) while appearing in all six contests. Lane Zablocki has netted five goals in the series to lead all skaters. The Pats power play has been consistent all throughout the post-season, scoring 16 times at a 30.8% execution rate. Furthermore, Regina owns a 5-0-0 record when leading after 40 minutes of play so they have proven that they can play shutdown hockey once a lead has been established.

The Rebels and Pats each collected two victories against one another in the 2015-16 regular season series.
