The WHL is looking for a dynamic, energetic and passionate Content Production & Creative Services specialist to join the WHL Communications department to deliver engaging and exciting video content and creative materials.
The world of Content Production, Video Services, and Creative in the WHL continues to evolve at an ever-increasing rate, allowing opportunity for a creative individual to step in, pitch fresh ideas, and be part of a motivated Digital Media team that is committed to telling the many stories of the WHL and its 23 member Clubs.
Established in 1966, the WHL is regarded as the world’s finest development league for junior hockey players. The WHL has produced some of hockey’s all-time greats, including Joe Sakic (Swift Current Broncos), Jarome Iginla (Kamloops Blazers), Carey Price (Tri-City Americans) and Ryan Getzlaf (Calgary Hitmen), among many others. Working in the WHL Communications department provides individuals with the opportunity to create dynamic content promoting the future stars of the NHL and Canada’s National Junior Teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work alongside WHL Director, Public Relations & Brand Communications to develop and guide video content strategy
- Contribute to long-term video content planning, ensuring alignment with league-wide objectives, fan engagement goals, and revenue generation opportunities.
- Develop creative assets and graphic design for WHL livestreaming events, event logos, merchandise, sales decks, etc.
- Live event production (ie. WHL Draft Show)
- Capture live game content on-location
- Capture player and staff interviews in controlled environments
- Produce various video content – long-form features, short-form social content, etc.
- Proactively identify areas of improvement or innovation for WHL video content
- Collaborate with WHL Manager, Community Engagement & Content, and WHL Coordinator, Social Media & Communications on content execution
- Responsible for maintaining WHL Highlight Pack standards with WHL Clubs
- Support WHL Clubs in meeting WHL Highlight Pack standards
- Support WHL Clubs on enhancing video content
- Collaborate with WHL Commercial Team to identify and integrate sponsorship and revenue opportunities within WHL Digital / Video Content.
- Stay current with emerging video technologies and best practices, and recommend innovations that enhance the WHL’s delivery of video
- Work collaboratively with WHL Marketing, Commercial, and Hockey Operations departments to ensure consistent integration of video initiatives.
- Support WHL Vice President, Commercial Strategy & Brand, and WHL Director, Public Relations & Brand Communications, as required
Attributes:
- Understanding of Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite, or other comparable video editing and creative programs
- Experience and understanding of digital video camera operation, lighting, and audio best practices is required
- Outgoing personality and enthusiastic attitude
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to thrive and adapt within a fast-paced, solution-driven environment
- Detail oriented and organized
- Ability to take direction, work independently, and work in a collaborative team environment
- Comfortable working on multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic sports environment
- Willingness to work hockey hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
- Ability to maintain confidential information
Experience:
- Degree or Diploma in Video Production / New Media
- Experience in hockey video production or other related field
