WHL Graduating Class: Week 4
Through the months of July and August, the Western Hockey League is saying ‘thank you’ to its 2018 graduating class. From July 23 to 27, we extended our gratitude to 10 players who concluded their WHL careers in the 2017-18 season.
Seattle Thunderbirds defenceman Turner Ottenbreit set career highs with nine goals and 38 assists for 47 points. Ottenbreit also won the Ed Chynoweth Cup in 2015. Turner attended the Colorado Avalanche development camp and signed with the Colorado Eagles.

Prince George Cougars forward Aaron Boyd scored 14 goals and recorded 24 assists this season. He joined the Rapid City Rush for the conclusion of their season where he scored three goals and added an assist in five games.

Kootenay ICE forward Colton Veloso recorded 47 points this season after scoring 32 points the previous season in Portland. Upon the completion of his WHL season Veloso joined the Jacksonville IceMen in the ECHL for the remainder of their season.

Prince Albert Raiders forward Jordy Stallard recorded 203 points in 238 WHL games, including 91 points this season (44G-47A). Stallard added eight points in seven playoff games, helping the Raiders take the Scotty Munro winning Moose Jaw Warriors to seven games in the first round of the playoffs.

Vancouver Giants defenceman Darian Skeoch played three seasons in the WHL, finishing this season as the alternate captain for the Vancouver Giants. Skeoch was known for his hard-hitting play and shut down role.

Red Deer Rebels forward Grayson Pawlenchuk served as the captain of the Rebels this season. Scoring a career high 52 points, and adding four points in five playoff games, Pawlenchuk will be furthering his education while playing for the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

Regina Pats forward Jesse Gabrielle recorded 228 points in 277 games. This past season he put up 19 points in an injury shortened 27 game season. His impressive play earned him a contract with the Boston Bruins in the NHL.

Lethbridge Hurricanes defenceman Tate Olson had a strong season, posting 24 points in 54 games. His game picked up in the playoffs, where he finished strong with 19 points in 16 games. The former Prince George Cougar also served as the alternate captain this season.

Tri-City Americans forward Maxwell James served as the alternate captain for Tri-City, the team he played his entire WHL career with. He set a career high in goals and assists this year and will be furthering his education playing with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.

Victoria Royals forward Tyler Soy finished his WHL career with 327 points in 323 games for Victoria. He finishes leading the Victoria Royals in goals, assists, points, and games played. He attended development camps with the Florida Panthers and Vancouver Canucks.
