WHL Alum Feist commits to Mount Royal University
Calgary, Alta.- Western Hockey League alumnus Layton Feist has committed to Mount Royal University.
The 20-year-old blueliner will join the Cougars immediately.
Feist played parts of six seasons in the WHL, tallying 27 goals (including four game-winners) and 83 assists for 110 points in 261 matches.
Originally drafted by the Regina Pats with the 17th overall pick in the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft, Feist played parts of five seasons in the Queen City before stops in Spokane and, finally, Kamloops.

The 5-foot-10, 178-pound rearguard totaled 110 points (27G-83A) in 261 regular season games and three points (2G-1A) in 10 playoff contests.
Mount Royal (14-4) sits first in the West Division and second in the Canada West standings behind the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
Nearly the entire Cougars’ roster is comprised of WHL graduates, including reigning U SPORTS Player of the Year Connor Bouchard (Tri-City Americans).
The Cougars are back in action on Friday, January 10 as they host the reigning CW Champion UBC Thunderbirds (12-5).
For each season played in the WHL, a player is awarded a one-year post-secondary scholarship, which includes tuition, compulsory fees, and required textbooks. In partnership with Canada West universities, numerous WHL Scholarship recipients each year are also awarded additional financial assistance from their university to receive Western Canada’s Premier Hockey Scholarship.
Since 1993, the WHL has awarded nearly 8,000 scholarships to graduate players. The WHL is the leading supplier of hockey scholarships in Western Canada and offers one of the most comprehensive scholarships in North America.
