WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE LAUNCHES “LIVE STATS”

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today the launch of a new online real time scores and stats system, “LeagueStat” on the official website of the WHL, www.whl.ca, for the 2002-03 season. The system provides WHL media and fans the opportunity to follow WHL games as they happen.

Statistics from all games played in the 2002-03 season will be entered in “real time,” including up to the second information on goals and penalties etc. The program will provide instant updates on the score of all games in progress as well as statistics.

All WHL club websites are equipped with a display console that will allow fans the ability to follow all the action of their favorite team using the “Real Time” scores and stats system.

Commercial Design, a Toronto based multimedia company is responsible for developing the software for the program. They also designed the same system currently being used by the Ontario Hockey League.

WHL teams will be testing the system over the final weekend of the Exhibition season; consequently, information posted may not be entirely accurate. Please note, not all exhibition games will be tested.
