Americans’ Weiman named WHL Player of the Week
Calgary, Alta. – The Western Hockey League Player of the Week is goaltender Tyler Weiman of the Tri-City Americans. Weiman earned player of the week honours by recording a 1.72 goals-against-average, a 0.935 save percentage and a record of 1-1-1 for the week.
On Wednesday, October 10, Weiman recorded 31 saves and allowed only one goal after a goaltending change in the first period of a 6-4 win against the visiting Kootenay ICE. On Friday, October 12, Weiman recorded 21 saves in a 2-2 tie against the visiting Prince Albert Raiders.
On Saturday, October 13, Weiman made 25 saves in a 2-1 loss to the to Chiefs in Spokane.
Tyler, a 17-year-old from Lloydminster, Alta. is eligible for the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Honourable mention goes to Ken Davis, of the Prince George Cougars. He scored five goals in the Cougars 10-4 win in Calgary on October 14.
