Warriors defenceman Ziprick commits to Bemidji State University
Moose Jaw, Sask.- Moose Jaw Warriors defenceman Aiden Ziprick has announced his commitment to Bemidji State University.
The 19-year-old is slated to join the Beavers for the 2026-27 season upon the conclusion of his final year of WHL eligibility.
“Being able to play in Moose Jaw has grown my game a ton and has ultimately gotten me to this point in my career,” Ziprick said. “I’ve learned a lot so far with my time in Moose Jaw and look forward to my last year in the league before attending Bemidji… Getting the chance to join Bemidji in the 26-27 season is going to be huge for my career. Between the coaches and facilities that they have, there is a huge setup for success and development for me, not only as a player but as a person as well.”
The 2024 WHL Champion took off like a shot in his third full WHL season, putting up 12 goals and 36 assists for 48 points in 68 regular-season matches in 2024-25.
Ziprick finished second on the Warriors in points and ranked 16th among all WHL blueliners.
“We would like to congratulate Aiden on committing to Bemidji State in 2026-27,” Warriors General Manager Jason Ripplinger said. “Aiden came to Moose Jaw looking for an opportunity to develop as a player and a person. (Aiden) took big steps to set himself up to be a top defenceman in the WHL in the upcoming season.”
The Russell, Man. product was originally drafted by the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the seventh round of the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft.
He appeared in 32 contests for the Canes before being acquired by Moose Jaw early in the 2023-24 season.
The 6-foot-1, 188-pound rearguard appeared in 20 postseason contests for the Warriors to help the team lift the Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL Champions for the first time in franchise history.
Ziprick played hero and made Warriors history at the 2024 Memorial Cup by scoring a late shorthanded, game-winning goal to give Moose Jaw its first-ever victory at the tournament in a 5-3 decision against the QMJHL Champion Drummondville Voltigeurs.
The impressive tally was Ziprick’s second career WHL goal (regular or postseason). He was also the first defenceman to score a shorthanded goal at the Memorial Cup since Acadie-Bathurst Titan alternate captain Adam Holwell in Game 2 in 2018.
