VP Sports & Entertainment presents: Vees alternate captain Evers signs with Seattle Kraken
Penticton, B.C.- Time to get Kraken!
Penticton Vees alternate captain Ryden Evers has signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Seattle Kraken, the NHL club announced Sunday.
Evers has played a key role in Penction’s historic inaugural WHL season.
“We’re excited to have Ryden join our organization,” Kraken General Manager Jason Botterill said in a press release. “His development has continued to improve over the years, turning him into a responsible two-way centre that brings size and skill to the group.”
The 6-foot-3, 196-pound centreman has logged 31 goals (including seven game-winners) and 38 assists for 69 points and a +28 rating in 60 games in 2025-26.
Evers is second on the Vees in both points and goals while leading the entire WHL in faceoff wins with 841.
The 20-year-old from Burnaby, B.C. has signed with the Kraken as an undrafted free agent, with his contract set to take effect for the 2026-27 season.
His first season in the WHL has included a breakout four-goal night against the Everett Silvertips on October 25, 2025, and a seven-game point streak in early January.
Penticton has broken both the WHL and CHL records for wins by an expansion franchise in its inaugural season with 38, and the B.C. Division leaders still have eight games remaining in the regular season.
Evers and the Vees have clinched a playoff berth and are fighting to lock down first place in the B.C. Division, which would provide home ice advantage in the first round of the 2026 WHL Playoffs.
Fresh off a 4-2-0-0 East Division road trip, the Vees will return to the South Okanagan Events Centre for a tilt against the Wenatchee Wild on Friday, March 6, at 7:05 p.m. PST.
