Saskatoon Blades clinch berth in 2024 WHL Playoffs
In the midst of one of the most successful seasons in recent team history, the Saskatoon Blades have become the first team to clinch a berth in the 2024 WHL Playoffs.
With a 3-2 win against the Swift Current Broncos on February 10, the Blades have a 39-9-2-3 record, earning 83 points in 53 games to sit first in the WHL and the Eastern Conference.
Led by Captain and WHL assists leader (70) Trevor Wong, Saskatoon has earned points in 29 of its last 30 games (24-1-2-3) and has only suffered one regulation loss at home this season (23-1-1-0).
Anaheim Ducks prospect Egor Sidorov sits second in the league in goals with 42 and leads the CHL with 10 game-winning goals.
Fraser Minten, who was acquired in a trade with Kamloops in November, has erupted since returning from the World Junior Hockey Championship in the new year. The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect has 11 goals and 11 assists and a +14 rating through 15 matches in 2024.
The dominant Eastern club has consistently ranked in the CHL Top 10.
The Blades will pursue their first league title when puck drops on the WHL Playoffs in the Spring. Saskatoon has never won a WHL Championship but have advanced to the finals five times and advanced to the Memorial Cup final when hosting in 1988-89.
