Royals Knock Off Chiefs in Game 6, Advance to Round 2 of the WHL Playoffs

Tyler Soy recorded four points (2g-2a) to guide the Victoria Royals to a 6-2 win over the Spokane Chiefs in Game 6 on Sunday night. With the win, the Royals have advanced to Round 2 of the WHL Playoffs and will face either the Kelowna Rockets or Kamloops Blazers. Soy was named the game’s first star for his efforts while Jack Walker scored twice and added an assist to cap off a three point outing. Victoria capitalized on the power play as they went 3/5 and Spokane was scoreless on the man advantage, going 0/5.

The Brandon Wheat Kings collected their third consecutive win on the road against the Edmonton Oil Kings to take a 3-2 series lead. Brandon led 3-2 late in the third period and tallied a pair of empty netters to seal the 5-2 nod. Wheat Kings forward Tanner Kaspick picked up a pair of assists and earned a plus-3 rating to claim first star honours while defenceman Jordan Thomson notched two points (1g-1a) for Brandon.
