Rockets Win Thriller, Edge Royals 3-2 to Advance to WHL Western Conference Championship

The Kelowna Rockets pulled off a stunning come from behind victory to knock off the Victoria Royals 3-2 in Game 7 to advance to the Western Conference Championship Series. Calvin Thurkauf scored the overtime winner at the 5:56 mark of the extra frame. Rockets forward Justin Kirkland sent the game into overtime after scoring his second of the game with less than a second remaining in regulation. Kelowna will face the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL Western Conferecne Championship.

PATS 1, REBELS 2
Adam Musil’s go ahead goal in the third period proved to be the difference as the Red Deer Rebels eliminated the Regina pats in Game 7 by a score of 2-1. Rebels goaltender Rylan Toth was named the game’s first star after a 32 save performance, including 15 saves in the third period alone. Red Deer will take on the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL Eastern Conference Championship.
