NHL Prospect Watch: Seattle Kraken
Ahead of the 2025-26 hockey season, we’re diving into the WHL prospect pool for each of the NHL’s 32 teams. This series will highlight current and former WHLers who are signed to an NHL contract, have recently been drafted by an NHL team, or meet the NHL’s definition of a rookie.
Today, we check on a prospect pool far deeper than the Puget Sound!
Clarke Caswell
Brandon, Man. product Clarke Caswell entered 2024-25 as a newly-minted Seattle Kraken prospect with a ‘C’ on his chest. The 5-foot-11, 181-pound winger buried 22 goals (including two game winners and a pair of shorthanded tallies) and 62 assists for a career-best 84 points. Caswell finished second on the Broncos in points while leading the team in helpers. The 19-year-old had three games with four or more points, highlighted by a two-goal, three-assist effort against Prince Albert on November 1, 2024. He also added two goals and two assists in five playoff games against the eventual champion Medicine Hat Tigers. Drafted by Seattle with the 141st overall pick in the fifth round of the 2024 NHL Draft, Caswell also got a taste of pro life when he was called up to the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds upon the conclusion of his WHL season, though he’s yet to make his professional debut.

Berkly Catton
Kraken fans flocked to watch 2024 eighth-overall pick Berkly Catton as he led the Spokane Chiefs to the 2025 WHL Championship Series. With 38 goals and 71 assists for 109 points in 57 games, Catton finished third in the league scoring race while finishing 12th in goals and faceoff wins (622, 59.2%), fourth in helpers and fifth in plus/minus (+46). The 5-foot-10, 175-pound pivot led all skaters in playoff scoring with 42 points (11G-31A) in 20 games, highlighted by a monster two-goal, five-assist effort in Game 5 against Vancouver, as the Chiefs came up just short in the WHL Championship Series. Catton, 19, was awarded the Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy as the WHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player and even won CHL Sportsman of the Year. He was named Tempo WHL Player of the Week four times and picked up a Player of the Month nod in February, in addition to making the WHL Western Conference First All-Star Team. With 284 career points (116G-168A) in Spokane, Catton is eighth in all-time Chiefs scoring and assists and 10th in goals. Miettinen posted 11 goals and 28 assists for 39 points in 36 regular-season tilts. He still finished eighth in scoring on the regular-season champion Everett Silvertips and cruised to third in points per game (1.08). Caden Price
After playing parts of four seasons with the Kelowna Rockets, Caden Price was one of the most highly sought-after defenders at the 2025 WHL Trade Deadline. Price picked up nine goals and 34 assists for 43 points in 57 games with the Rockets and Hurricanes, with all three of his goals with Lethbridge standing as game-winners. The Saskatoon, Sask. product was rock-solid in the postseason with another eight points (2G-6A)- including a seven-game point streak- to reach the Eastern Conference Championship.
