Monday’s WHL Round-up
COUGARS HOLD OFF WINTER HAWKS – Brett Connolly’s shorthanded marker 4:40 into the third period stood as the game-winner as the Prince George Cougars managed a 3-2 victory over the visiting Portland Winter Hawks in Western Hockey League action on Monday, February 9th.
Cameron Cepek and Alex Poulter also scored for the Cougars (22-32-0-2), who pick up their third straight victory and now sit 12 points up on Chilliwack for eighth place in the Western Conference. Kevin Armstrong turned aside 32 of 34 shots he faced to backstop the Cougars to the win.
Chris Francis and Stefan Schneider scored for the Winter Hawks (13-36-2-2), whose third-period rally from a 3-0 deficit fell short as they drop their second straight contest. Ian Curtis made 25 saves in the loss.
