Kraken prospect Jugnauth commits to Michigan State University
Portland, Ore.- Portland Winterhawks defenceman Tyson Jugnauth has announced his commitment to Michigan State University.
The 20-year-old Seattle Kraken prospect will join the Spartans for the 2025-26 season upon the conclusion of his WHL eligibility.

Jugnauth, who clocks in at 5-foot-11, 171 pounds, leads the WHL blueliner scoring race with six goals and 39 assists for 45 points in 32 games.
He’s currently riding a nine-game point streak that’s seen him put 19 assists on the scoresheet.
Jugnauth also picked up Tempo WHL Player of the Week honours in early December after putting up a historic six assists in a single game against the Vancouver Giants.
He’s the first Portland defenceman to tally a half-dozen assists in one game and the second WHL blueliner to accomplish the feat since 1996-97.
The Kelowna, B.C. product is in his second season with the Winterhawks, netting 86 points (13G-73A) in 73 games and playing a key role in the team’s run to the 2024 WHL Championship Series.

Jugnauth tacked on 16 points (4G-12A) in 18 matches, finishing second in postseason scoring among all WHL defencemen.
The Seattle Kraken selected Jugnauth with the 100th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
Prior to his time in Portland, Jugnauth played two seasons with the NCAA’s University of Wisconsin.
Portland (20-12-2-0) has won six straight games to climb to third in the competitive U.S. Division and sit fourth in the Western Conference.
The Winterhawks close out 2024 with a red-hot rivalry match against the league-leading Everett Silvertips (27-5-2-1) at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at 5:00 p.m. PST.
