Hurricanes add to forward depth with acquisition of Ty Kolle
In a bid to add solid depth to their forward core as they prepare to take a strong run at winning the Ed Chynoweth Cup, the Lethbridge Hurricanes acquired forward Ty Kolle from the Portland Winterhawks Thursday.
Headed the other way in the deal is a fifth-round selection in the 2019 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
Kolle, an 18-year-old product of Kamloops, B.C., was originally selected by the Winterhawks in the fourth round, 70th overall, of the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. Since then, he’s appeared in 77 WHL regular season contests, totaling 18 points (7G-11A), including two game-winning goals. Kolle has three multi-point games in his WHL career.
He’s also appeared in a pair of WHL playoff games, recording two assists. The 5-foot-8, 178-pound forward could be with the team as soon as this weekend, when the Hurricanes host the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday before a date with the Saskatoon Blades Saturday. The Winterhawks are in action next on Friday, October 5 (7:00 p.m. PT) when they close out a two-game set against the Kamloops Blazers.
