Hubbauer Recovering
Toronto, Ont. - Regina Pats center Matt Hubbauer is out of surgery and is now in the recovery room at Toronto General Hospital after having a tumor removed from his left sinus. The tumor, which was the size of a small apple, was removed by a team of doctors led by Ear, Nose and Throat specialist Doctor Patrick Gullane of Toronto in a procedure that took just over three (3) hours earlier this morning.
Pats General Manager Brent Parker – All indications from the medical staff are that the surgery went very well. They were able to remove the mass in its entirety and feel that it has a less than 10% chance of growing back. Dr. Gullane also indicated that he is 99.9% sure that it is a non-cancerous mass and feels that he will make a full and complete recovery. At this point in time we do not have any time table as to if and when he would return to playing hockey, and honestly at this time we are all just thankful that he healthy. Matt wanted me to thank everyone who has sent well wishes to him and his family over the past month during what was a very difficult time. He has received hundreds of e-mails, letters, cards and faxes and is very grateful and overwhelmed with the support
Matt will remain in the Toronto General Hospital for the next few days before returning to his home in Winnipeg to continue his recovery. We will continue to update all of you as we have more information.
