Giants Sign 1999-born D Marcus Kichton
The Vancouver Giants announced on Thursday that the hockey club has signed 1999-born defenceman Marcus Kichton to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.
“With the addition of Marcus, we get a good puck moving defenceman,” said Giants Director of Player Personnel Jason Ripplinger. “He’s a good skater who brings some experience coming from Tier-2 as opposed to Midget, so he knows about playing against older guys, and we think he can contribute to our club.”
Kichton, who hails from Spruce Grove, Alberta, tallied five assists in 55 games with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League during the 2015/16 season. Kichton was a second round pick of the Moose Jaw Warriors in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. The Giants acquired his rights in a trade with Moose Jaw on January 8, 2016.
Kichton’s older brother Brenden is a Winnipeg Jets prospect who scored 268 points over five seasons with the Spokane Chiefs in the WHL.
