Former Americans alternate captain Bouchard highlights annual U SPORTS major awards
Former Tri-City Americans alternate captain Connor Bouchard has been named the 2024 Senator Joseph A. Sullivan Trophy winner as the most outstanding player in U SPORTS men’s hockey, the league announced Wednesday.
The Mount Royal University standout erupted for 23 goals and 34 assists in 26 games, becoming the first Canada West player to break the 50-point mark since 2000-01.
Bouchard’s Cougars teammate Shane Farkas captured U SPORTS Goaltender of the Year.
Farkas, who previously played in net for the Portland Winterhawks and Victoria Royals, led the Canada West conference with 18 wins and four shutouts in 23 games played.
Connor Ungar won the Clare Drake Trophy for Rookie of the Year after backstopping Brock University to its first University Cup tournament appearance.
The former Brandon, Red Deer and Moose Jaw goalie set a program record with 20 regular-season wins to lead all U SPORTS goaltenders this season.
Five WHL graduates were also named to the All-Canadian and All-Rookie teams.

The 2024 University Cup kicks off Thursday at Toronto’s Mattamy Athletic Centre, also known as the site of the old Maple Leaf Gardens.
A total of 58 former WHL players will compete for Canada’s men’s national university championship.
