Flurry of pick swaps involving WHL Clubs ahead of 2025 CHL Import Draft
Calgary, Alta. – WHL Clubs were busy this week ahead of the 2025 CHL Import Draft, as six trades were completed involving selections in the annual import restocking.
TRADE 1
Edmonton Oil Kings trade a 2025 second-round pick (98th overall, CHL Import Draft) to the Penticton Vees in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick (138th overall, CHL Import Draft) and a 2027 eighth-round pick (WHL Prospects Draft).
TRADE 2
Moose Jaw Warriors trade a 2025 second-round pick (71st overall, CHL Import Draft) to the Victoria Royals in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick (177th overall, CHL Import Draft) and a 2027 fifth-round pick (Kelowna Rockets, WHL Prospects Draft).
TRADE 3
Portland Winterhawks trade a 2025 second-round pick (95th overall, CHL Import Draft) to the Brandon Wheat Kings in exchange for a 2029 sixth-round pick (WHL Prospects Draft).
TRADE 4
Vancouver Giants trade a 2025 first-round pick (31st overall, CHL Import Draft) to the Everett Silvertips in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick (61st overall, CHL Import Draft) and a 2028 second-round pick (WHL Prospects Draft).
TRADE 5
Everett Silvertips trade forward Kasey Gleim (2009) and a 2025 second-round pick (122nd overall, CHL Import Draft) to the Swift Current Broncos in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick (89th overall, CHL Import Draft). *Note: This trade follows the voiding of a previous trade between Everett and Swift Current, which saw forward Rylan Gould traded to Everett and a 2026 first-round pick (WHL Prospects Draft) sent to Swift Current. Gould is forgoing his 20-year-old season in the WHL and as a result, the 2026 first-round pick has been returned to Everett.
TRADE 6
Swift Current Broncos trade a 2025 first-round pick (28th overall, CHL Import Draft) to Calgary Hitmen in exchange for a 2025 first-round pick (59th overall, CHL Import Draft) and a 2029 third-round pick (WHL Prospects Draft).
The 2025 CHL Import Draft is set for Wednesday, July 2, at 9 a.m. MT / 8 a.m. PT. For the first time in CHL Import Draft history, the draft has been expanded to three rounds. Beginning with the 2025-26 season, Clubs are now permitted to carry three import players, up from two.
