Deja Vu As Wheat Kings Clip Thunderbirds in Overtime
It was Reid Duke’s turn to be the overtime hero for the Brandon Wheat Kings as he scored minutes into the extra frame to give his Club the 3-2 victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds and a commanding 3-0 lead in the 2016 WHL Championship Series. This was the third consecutive contest in which overtime was needed to determine a winner. In all three games, the score was tied at 2-2 heading into the extra frame and the Wheat Kings prevailed in all three outcomes.
John Quenneville got the scoring going for Brandon as he buried his 14th goal of the playoffs to give Brandon a quick 1-0 lead.

Alexander True gobbled upa rebound and fired it by goaltender Landon Bow to tie the game at 1-1.

Moments later, Keegan Kolesar netted his seventh of the post-season on a T-Birds power play as Seattle led 2-1 through one period of play.

Brandon then capitalized in the third period as Quenneville tallied his second of the game. Score was tied at two goals apiece. Overtime was required for the third straight game.

Just a few minutes into overtime, Reid Duke pulled off a patient move from the right face off dot and snapped the game winning goal by T-Birds goaltender Landon Bow to seal the 3-2 win.

Brandon now owns a 3-0 lead in the 2016 WHL Championship Series and can clinch their first championship for the first time since 1996 on Wednesday night in Seattle.
