Everett, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips, proud member of the Western Hockey League, and general manager Garry Davidson announced today that the club has signed prospect defenceman Ronan Seeley to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.

“Ronan Seeley is a smooth skating defenceman who demonstrates outstanding qualities and skill on all three areas of the ice,” said Davidson. “It’s a tremendous day to announce his commitment to the Silvertips and the WHL.
‘We were left with a great impression on his abilities during training camp, and his progress this season has us looking very much forward to his continued development in our program.”
Seeley, a 5-foot-10, 150-pound product of Olds, Alta., is currently is tied for the league lead in scoring among defencemen and leads all Lethbridge Hurricanes Midget AAA (AMHL) blue liners with 20 points (2g-18a) in 18 games while not committing a single penalty. His 18 assists lead all league defencemen.

He was fourth in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League, led the Red Deer Rebels (Bantam AAA) defencemen and was third overall in club scoring last season with 38 points in 35 games, earning the club’s Most Outstanding Defenceman honors. He was the AMBHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player in 2015-16.
“Ronan’s commitment delivers a great day for our franchise and we’re excited about his choice of the WHL over a variety of additional options,” said Silvertips director of player personnel Bil La Forge. “He has demonstrated elite abilities and the potential to fulfill a cornerstone role in our program’s future.
“Our scouting staff worked really hard to pick the ideal player like Ronan, and effectively communicate to him about the benefits of playing in the WHL and Everett.”
Seeley is one of four players signed by the Silvertips from the 2017 draft class, joining forward Jackson Berezowski (second round), defenceman Dylan Anderson (fourth round), and goaltender Blake Lyda (fourth round).
Ronan’s father, Patrick, skated over the course of two seasons in the WHL with the New Westminster Bruins and Spokane Chiefs (1983-86), registering 15 points in 51 career games.
