Cougars sign top import pick Filip Koffer
The Prince George Cougars have a commitment from their top selection in the 2019 CHL Import Draft as Czech-born forward Filip Koffer inked a WHL Standard Player Agreement on Friday.
Koffer, who was taken with the 10th overall selection at the 2019 CHL Import Draft in June, is a product of Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic. He spent the 2018-19 campaign largely with HC Dynamo Pardubice of the Czech U-19 league, registering 38 points (10G-28A) in 38 games.
The 18-year-old right winger also represented his country at the 2019 World Under-18 Hockey Championship in April, tallying six points (4G-2A) in five games. He also skated for the Czech Republic at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and helped his country to a bronze-medal performance at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
Koffer joins 18-year-old Matej Toman, a fellow Czech, as the Cougars two imports heading in the 2019-20 season. Toman was the fifth-overall selection at the 2018 CHL Import Draft and collected 20 points (9G-11A) in 66 games during his rookie campaign in the WHL.
