Broncos score six unanswered in wild Wednesday Night in the Dub comeback victory
Saskatoon, Sask.- A stampede of goals from Swift Current powered the Broncos to a 6-3 win over the East Division rival Saskatoon Blades in Wednesday Night in the Dub action.
Veteran Carlin Dezainde led the charge with two goals and two assists, while 2025 NHL Draft-eligible defenceman Grayson Burzynski picked up three assists as the Broncos iced a third straight comeback victory.
Saskatoon’s blueline dominated early play with a trio of defenders finding the back of the net.
Another 2025 NHL Draft-eligible skater, Jack Kachkowski, kicked things off with a long shot through traffic to beat Reid Dyck.
Brayden Klimpke and rookie William James snagged the assists on the game-opening tally.

The reigning WHL Regular Season Champions doubled their lead on a powerplay midway through the first period when 20-year-old Grayden Siepmann out-angled a Broncos defender and wired a shot past a screened Dyck.
Rookie Jordan Martin capped off an impressive run that saw Saskatoon score three times in less than seven minutes with another clever wrister.
James earned his second assist of the period on Martin’s sixth career goal.
Martin’s tally chased Dyck from the crease, with Joey Rocha coming in to close out the evening.

The move sparked immediate results, with the Broncos breaking the goose-egg off the ensuing faceoff.
Alternate captain Rylan Gould, skating in his 250th career regular season game, won the draw back to Burzynski, who sprung Dezainde to gain the Blades’ zone.
Dezainde fed defenceman Hunter Mayo for a wicked wrister from the high slot to get Swift Current on the board.

Three minutes later, a streaking Dezainde picked up a centering pass from Gould in the high slot and danced a Saskatoon defender to rip his 32nd goal of the year stick-side on Ethan McCallum.

Broncos rookie Parker Rondeau truly tipped the scales by pouncing on a rebound to tie the game with less than a minute remaining in the opening frame.
Burzynski and Trae Wilkie were awarded the assists on the momentous goal.

Swift Current didn’t waste time getting going in the second period.
Veteran Brady Birnie gave his squad their first lead of the match with a rocket on the powerplay after another pair of generous passes from Burzynski and Wilke.
Birnie’s 23rd goal of the season would go on to stand as the game winner.

Broncos Captain and 2024 Seattle Kraken fifth-round pick Clarke Caswell added to the pile-on late in the second period.
The 19-year-old wheeled around the offensive zone and ripped the puck just inside the post to make it 5-0 entering the final frame.

Dezainde put an exclamation point on the victory with a late empty-netter as Swift Current scored six unanswered goals.
Joey Rocha stopped all 20 shots he faced in relief, while Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Evan Gardner denied 14 of 15 shots in his first game action since February 2, 2025.
Swift Current (32-25-1-1) is now three points behind Saskatoon (31-21-3-4) in the East Division standings as both squads inch closer to clinching a berth in the 2025 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien.
The Broncos will head west to face the formidable Calgary Hitmen (39-15-3-3) at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. PST.
Saskatoon heads north for a pivotal match against the East Division-leading Prince Albert Raiders (34-20-5-1) on March 7 with a 7:00 p.m. ST start time
Wednesday Night in the Dub returns on March 19 with a battle between the league-leading Everett Silvertips and the red-hot Spokane Chiefs.
