Broncos acquire Lees from Royals for conditional draft pick
The Swift Current Broncos have acquired 2000-born forward Tyler Lees from the Victoria Royals. In exchange, the Royals have received a conditional ninth-round pick in the 2021 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
Lees was selected in the fifth round, 94th overall, by the Saskatoon Blades in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. He was then traded to the Victoria Royals this past July. Throughout his 66 career WHL games between the Royals and the Blades, Lees recorded seven points (4G-3A). This season, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound product of Regina, Sask. played 27 games with Victoria, earning three points (1G-2A).
In the 2016-17 season, Lees played for the Regina Pat Canadians Midget AAA team and won the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League (SMHL) championship.
Lees will join the Broncos on Wednesday, January 9 (7:00 p.m. CT) at the Innovation Credit Union i-Plex in Swift Current.
