Blazers add Dosanjh off waivers from Cougars
Facing the extended loss of veteran defenceman Dallas Valentine, the Kamloops Blazers went out and added 20-year-old defenceman Shaun Dosanjh off waivers from the Prince George Cougars on Wednesday afternoon.
Dosanjh, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound product of Richmond, B.C., has skated in 128 career WHL regular season games, split between the Vancouver Giants and Prince George Cougars. He has two goals and six points to his name, along with 97 penalty minutes.
Dosanjh is expected to join the Blazers Thursday morning.
With the addition of Dosanjh, the Blazers shuffled the 20-year-old Valentine to the long-term injury reserve. The 6-foot-4, 194-pound product of Red Deer was knocked out of action after suffering an undisclosed injury Oct. 7 in Calgary.
Valentine will not count against the Blazers’ overage limit while on long-term injury reserve. Kamloops has three active 20-year-olds on its roster, including Dosanjh alongside forwards Matt Revel and captain Collin Shirley.
