Blades sniper Sidorov signs entry-level contract with Anaheim Ducks
Anaheim, Calif.- The Anaheim Ducks have signed Saskatoon Blades winger Egor Sidorov to a three-year, entry-level contract, the NHL club announced Wednesday.
Sidorov is coming off a career-best season that saw the 19-year-old erupt for 50 goals (tied for fourth in the WHL) and a league-leading 12 game-winning markers.
His 88 points were good for second on the Blades, helping Saskatoon capture the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as WHL regular season champions.
The 6-foot, 180-pound forward was also tied for third in league powerplay goals with 16.
Sidorov currently has three goals and five points in three games in Saskatoon’s Round One series against the Prince Albert Raiders, which Blades lead 2-1.
The Ducks selected the Vitebsk, Belarus product in the third round, 85th overall of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
Since being picked by Saskatoon 20th overall in the 2021 CHL Import Draft, Sidorov has brought a dynamic presence to the Blades’ attack.
He has 113 goals and 86 assists for 199 points in 177 WHL regular season games, plus another 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists) in 24 postseason contests.
Sidorov is the third Belarusian player to be drafted by Anaheim, following Ruslan Salei (ninth overall in 1996) and Vitali Kozel (ninth round, 212th overall in 1993), according to the Ducks.
The Blades battle the Raiders in Game 3 of their First Round series on Wednesday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. ST at the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert, Sask.
