Americans defenceman Terrell Goldsmith inks entry-level deal with Utah Hockey Club
Kennewick, Wash. – Tri-City Americans defenceman Terrell Goldsmith has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Utah Hockey Club.
“It’s a dream come true,” Goldsmith said. “I called my parents and there were a lot of happy tears. They made tons of sacrifices to help me get to where I need to go, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them.”
The 6-foot-4, 216-pound blueliner was selected by the then-Arizona Coyotes 102nd overall in the fourth round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
Goldsmith has recorded 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 199 games with the Americans and Prince Albert Raiders.
Tri-City acquired the 19-year-old in a blockbuster July trade that saw Seattle Kraken prospect Lukas Dragicevic head north.
Goldsmith, from Fort St. James, was originally chosen with the 15th overall pick in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft.
He will remain in the WHL for the remainder of the 2024-25 season before making the jump to the professional ranks in 2025.
“It’s the first step towards the next step,” continued Goldsmith. “I want to play professional and that’s what I’m trying to do.”
Goldsmith will suit up for his 200th career Western Hockey League game on October 19 when the Americans host the Kelowna Rockets.
