2019 WHL Graduating Class: Week Five
Through July and August, the Western Hockey League is saying ‘thank you’ to its 2019 graduating class. From August 5th to 9th, we extended our gratitude to 10 players who concluded their WHL careers in the 2018-19 season.
Joining the Medicine Hat Tigers from Norrtalje, Sweden, Linus Nassen became a dependable member of the defensive core for the Tigers. After 115 regular season and playoff games in Gas City, Linus totaled 77 points (11G-66A) and was selected in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Florida Panthers in the third round, 89th overall.

Beginning his WHL career with the Tri-City Americans, Zack Andrusiak would go on to play for the Prince Albert Raiders, Seattle Thunderbirds and Everett Silvertips. Over his five seasons, Andrusiak totaled 163 points (89G-74A) in 235 regular season and playoff games. In 2017, he also became a WHL Champion with the Thunderbirds’ squad.

After spending the majority of his time with the Red Deer Rebels, Riley Lamb concluded his WHL career with the Swift Current Broncos. In total, Lamb played in 88 regular season and playoff games and finished with a 3.58 goals-against average and .900 save percentage. To continue his hockey career, Lamb has committed to the University of Manitoba to play for the Bisons and utilize his WHL Scholarship.

Spending the entirety of his WHL career with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Igor Merezhko, played in 302 regular season and playoff games, collecting 115 points (11G-104A). Originally, the Hurricanes’ alternate captain was selected in the second round, 65th overall in the 2015 Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Import Draft from Kharkov, Ukraine.

Raiders forward and 2019 WHL Champion Dante Hannoun was drafted 11th overall, in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft by the Victoria Royals. After a mid-season trade with the Royals this year, Hannoun joined the Raiders and was instrumental in Prince Albert’s playoff run to the 2019 Rogers WHL Championship Series, where he eventually scored the Championship-winning goal for the Raiders against the Vancouver Giants. During the 2019 WHL Playoffs, Hannoun also scored the most goals (14). In total, Hannoun collected 326 points (130G-196A) in an incredible 369 regular season and playoff games during his WHL career.

After he was selected in the second round, 42nd overall, in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft by the Edmonton Oil Kings, Davis Koch would also go on to play for the Giants. In his 359 regular season and playoff games, Davis collected 284 points (99G-185A).

Although Ryan Pouliot was selected by the Saskatoon Blades in the 11th round, 228th overall in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft, he actually began his WHL career with the Rebels and would then go on to play with the Kootenay ICE, Broncos and Giants. Overall, Pouliot recorded 30 points (3G-27A) in his 175 regular season and playoff games.

Parker AuCoin began his WHL career when he was selected by Tri-City, 15th overall in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft and would then spend his entire career with the U.S. Division team. Over the five seasons AuCoin played in, he amassed 190 points (94G-96A) in 285 regular season and playoff games.

After he was selected in the second round, 38th overall by the Spokane Chiefs, Dalton Hamaliuk spent four seasons with the team before joining the Moose Jaw Warriors. In 296 regular season and playoff games, Hamaliuk registered 60 points (10G-50A).

Another single-team skater can be found in the career of Ralph Jarratt who played with the Royals for five seasons. During his time in Victoria, Jarratt recorded 82 points (18G-64A) in 278 regular season and playoff games.
