Americans sign Minnesota product Tyler Jette
KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has signed 18-year-old Tyler Jette to a standard WHL Player Contract.
Jette, a 6-foot-3 190-pound defenseman from Farmington, MN, has played his last three seasons with the Farmington High team of the USHSL. Last season, he played in 22 games, earning five goals and 17 assists for a total of 22 points and 34 penalty minutes.
Jette earned a nomination for the 2016 Reed Larson award. In hockey, forwards and goalies tend to get the most attention with their outlandish scoring numbers and highlight-reel saves. The Reed Larson award focuses on the top, high school senior defenseman in the state. The nominees are judged on academics, community/extra-curricular activities, citizenship, coachability, and on-ice performance.
Jette was also one of 10 finalists for the Mr. Hockey Award. The Mr. Hockey Award is awarded to the most outstanding high school hockey player in the state of Minnesota as voted on by NHL scouts, junior-hockey scouts, and coaches. Jette averaged a point per game in his final season with the Farmington Tigers.
“Tyler is a big defenseman with an offensive upside. He has a tremendous season last year for Farmington High School, leading his team to the Minnesota State Hockey Championships,” stated Tory. “We look forward to him joining our team and adding valued depth to our blue line.”
Tyler will join the team on Tuesday, Sep. 27th.
Proud to announce that I have signed with the @TCAmericans thanks to my family, friends and coaches who have helped me along the way #ams
