WHL Firsts: Hurricanes’ Hall featured with lone first goal
As the 2018-19 Western Hockey League Regular Season progresses, dozens of players have joined a long list of those to score the first goal or earn their first victory between the pipes.
This week however, there’s just one player to feature as the Lethbridge Hurricanes added another name to their list of first-goal scorers.
Friday, January 11
The lone first of the week came Friday in southern Alberta as the Lethbridge Hurricanes hosted the Edmonton Oil Kings. Though the Oil Kings took the latest battle of the season series between the two clubs, it was Adam Hall’s moment to shine 3:02 into the first period as the Edmonton, Alta. product found the back of the net.
Igor Merezhko drove to the net and took the initial shot before collecting the rebound and feeding it through the crease to Hall in front for the opening strike.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound forward was originally selected in the eighth round, 158th overall, by the Hurricanes in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft and has posted five points (1G-4A) in 29 games this season. The 17-year-old came to the Central Division club from CAC Midget AAA Canadians program, where he had 20 points (7G-13A) in 28 games last season.
Adam’s twin brother Justin is also playing with the Hurricanes this season, scoring the first goal of his WHL career on November 30, 2018.
