Edmonton Oilers sign Blades forward Hebig to entry-level contract
Saskatoon Blades forward Cameron Hebig took a step forward in realizing his NHL dream Thursday, signing a three-year entry-level contract with the Edmonton Oilers.
Hebig, a 6-foot-0, 182-pound product of Saskatoon, Sask., led the Blades to their second straight victory Wednesday, scoring a pair of goals in a 4-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders. Hebig started the year with points in seven of his first eight games. He also has eight multi-goal games this season, including a pair of hat tricks. Hebig currently has 10 points (5G-5A) in his last six games.
Originally drafted by the Blades in the third round, 56th overall, of the 2012 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft, Hebig has played his entire WHL career with the Blades, scoring 186 points (85G-101A) in 232 WHL games.
