SUNDAY’S WHL ROUND-UP
BLAZERS DOWN SILVERTIPS – Jordan DePape scored twice and set up another to lead the Kamloops Blazers to a 3-1 win over the visiting Everett Silvertips in Western Hockey League action on Sunday.
Brendan Ranford scored once – his 20th of the season – and added two assists for the Blazers (11-9-0-1), who were 2-for-2 on the power play en route to earning their second straight victory. Jeff Bosch turned in a stellar 38-save performance to backstop the Blazers to the victory.
Kellan Tochkin notched his seventh goal of the season for the Silvertips (8-8-1-3), who fall to 1-6-0-1 on the road this season. Kent Simpson made 23 saves in a losing cause.
ICE 6, HITMEN 2
Kevin King scored twice and set up three more while Brayden McNabb chipped in four assists and was +5 as the visiting Kootenay Ice skated to a 6-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday.
Steele Boomer scored his fourth of the season and added two assists while Ryan Bloom, Matt Fraser and Jagger Dirk also scored for the Ice (15-4-0-2), who have won all five meetings versus the Hitmen this season and outscored the defending WHL champs 22-6 in the process. Nathan Lieuwen made 25 saves to record his 11th win of the season.
Cody Sylvester and Trevor Cheek scored for the Hitmen (4-15-1-0), who have lost 12 games in a row and have gone without a win since defeating Seattle 3-2 on October 16th. Michael Snider made 30 saves in the defeat.
