WHL WEEKEND RECAP – It was a busy weekend in the Western Hockey League with 20 games being played over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Here’s what happened in the WHL over the weekend:

rEVERETT 1 vs PORTLAND 3 – Brandon Dubinsky scored the game-winner on a penalty shot early in the second period. Garrett Festerling had two assists for the Winter Hawks while Karel Hromas scored the Silvertips only goal.

rKAMLOOPS 4 vs PRINCE GEORGE 0 – Jarret Lukin had a goal and an assist while Devan Dubnyk turned away 32 shots as the Blazers shut out the Cougars.

rKOOTENAY 3 vs LETHBRIDGE 0 – Adam Taylor scored once and added an assist, and Taylor Dakers stopped 24 shots as the Ice posted their third straight shutout.

rPRINCE ALBERT 3 vs CALGARY 6 – Shaun Landolt scored two goals and Ryan Getzlaf tallied a goal and an assist for the Hitmen. Jeremy Colliton scored twice for the Raiders in the loss.

rREGINA 0, RED DEER 4 – Dion Phaneuf notched a goal and two assists while Roman Wick tallied twice in the Rebels’ shutout win.

rSWIFT CURRENT 5 vs MOOSE JAW 3 – Tyler Redenbach scored two goals for the Broncos in the win. Kenndal McArdle had a goal and an assist for the Warriors.

rVANCOUVER 0 vs SEATTLE 3 – Tyler Metcalfe scored once and added an assist, and Bryan Bridges made 19 saves to post the shutout.

r
rBRANDON 4 vs RED DEER 2 – Ryan Stone scored twice – including the game-winner – and Tim Konsorada had a goal and an assist for the Wheat Kings. Chris Neiszner scored a goal and notched an assist for the Rebels.

rEVERETT 1 vs VANCOUVER 2 O/T – Adam Courchaine scored on a breakaway in overtime to lift the Giants to the win. Karel Hromas scored for Everett.

rKELOWNA 6 vs PRINCE GEORGE 0 – Troy Bodie scored two goals – including the winner – while Kristofer Westblom stopped 25 shots for the shutout over the Cougars.

rLETHBRIDGE 2 vs SWIFT CURRENT 0 – Kris Versteeg tallied a goal and an assist, and Aaron Sorochan made 13 saves to lift the Hurricanes to their first win of the season.

rMEDICINE HAT 8 vs MOOSE JAW 0 – Roman Psurny, Brett Robertson, and Juraj Prokop each had a goal and three assists as the Tigers hammered the Warriors.

rPORTLAND 0 vs SEATTLE 2 – Bryan Bridges made 34 saves for his second straight shutout. Tyler Metcalfe tallied two assists in the T-Birds’ win.

rSASKATOON 5 vs CALGARY 1 – Ryan Keller scored twice and Ryan Cyr stopped 30 of 31 shots to lift the Blades to their third straight win.

rSPOKANE 4 vs KOOTENAY 2 – Ned Lukacevic’s power-play goal a minute into the third period for the Chiefs ended Kootenay’s shutout streak at 247 minutes and 20 seconds. Steven Gillen scored the game-winner for Spokane.

rTRI-CITY 2 vs KAMLOOPS 0 – Dan Ehrman scored both goals for the Ams and Carey Price stopped 25 shots for the shutout.

rMEDICINE HAT 4 vs REGINA 1 – Tommy Maxwell scored the winner and Clarke MacArthur notched three assists in the Tigers fourth consecutive victory.

rPORTLAND 2 vs KAMLOOPS 1 – Brian Woolger scored the winner on the power-play and Kevin Opsahl stopped 35 of 36 shots to lead the Winter Hawks to the win.

rPRINCE ALBERT 5 vs RED DEER 2 – Jeremy Colliton scored a goal and added two assists in the win for the Raiders. Roman Wick and Andre Herman scored for the Rebels.

rSWIFT CURRENT 0 vs CALGARY 4 – Konstantin Pushkarev scored the winner and Scott Bowles made 22 saves in the shut out win for the Hitmen.
