WHL Playoffs Top Performer: May 2, 2024
The 2023-24 season has been far from linear for Prince George’s Koehn Ziemmer.
Out of the Cougars’ lineup for a hefty chunk of the regular season, the Los Angeles Kings prospect spent the latter half of his year getting back into the swing of WHL action.
But it wasn’t until the 2024 WHL Playoffs that the forward really found his footing.
Lighting the lamp twice on Thursday evening, Ziemmer was the driving force behind Prince George’s must-win, Game 5 tilt against the Portland Winterhawks.
After surrendering the open goal to their opponents, Ziemmer stepped up to the plate and ripped one of his patented snapshots toward the top left corner of the net and past goaltender Jan Spunar.

Ziemmer went on to collect his second goal of the game – another wicked wrister from the slot – with less than two minutes remaining in the first period.
The forward from Mayerthorpe, Alta., was lethal for the entirety of the night, creating scoring chances at will against their U.S. Division counterparts.
Before the night ended, Ziemmer tallied an assist next to his name by starting a passing sequence with linemates Ondrej Becher and Keaton Dowhaniuk.

The night-long burst of offence from the 19-year-old gave the Cougars some much-needed life in the Western Conference Championship, as the Club staved off elimination for the first time in their current postseason campaign.
Ziemmer now boasts 10 points (four goals–six assists) in 14 games at the 2024 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien and his three-point outing was the first of his postseason career.
Now trailing 3-2 in the series, Ziemmer and the Cougars are heading north for the next stop of the Western Conference Championship. Game 6 is scheduled for Monday, May 6th at the CN Centre in Prince George, B.C.
