TUESDAY NIGHT WHL HOCKEY ON SHAW
CALGARY, AB – Connor Gay and the Saskatoon Blades head to Edmonton to take on Lane Bauer and the Edmonton Oil Kings in a clash between two Eastern Conference Clubs on Tuesday night, live on SHAW and Shaw HD channel 304 at (7:00pm MT/6:00pm PT).
The Edmonton Oil Kings enter the matchup having lost their previous four decisions and sit fifth in the Central Division with an overall record of 3-6-1-0. Oil Kings forward Lane Bauer leads the Club in goal scoring with six in total and is also tied with teammate Brett Pollock for first in points with 10. The Oil Kings special teams play look to continue to improve as their power play ranks 12th overall while their penalty kill is 11th with a 78.6% success rate. Edmonton currently has a 1-3-1-0 record on home ice this season.
Connor Gay and the Saskatoon Blades have enjoyed a good start to their 2015-16 campaign having collected points in six of their first eight games. Gay is currently second in team scoring with 11 points (3g-8a) and is tied with Cameron Hebig for first in power play goals with two. The offence has been productive through the Blades first eight games as they have scored 32 goals. The Blades have demonstrated an effective penalty kill thus far with a success rate of 80.0%, good enough to sit tied for seventh overall in the league.
In the 2014-15 campaign, the Oil Kings claimed victories in all four regular season match-ups with the Blades, having outscored them by a 26-8 margin. Dysin Mayo, Andrew Koep and Ashton Sautner all recorded eight points against the Blades in last season’s head-to-head match-ups.
