Hitmen’s Brendl named WHL Player of the Week
Calgary, Alta. – The Bank of Montreal MasterCard – Western Hockey League Player of the Week is forward Pavel Brendl of the Calgary Hitmen. Brendl earned player of the week honours by recording eight points (5G-3A) in three games. Brendl helped lead the Hitmen to a perfect 3-0 record for the week.
On Friday, November 10, Brendl recorded three assists in a 10-2 win against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
On Saturday, November 11, Brendl scored five goals. All five of the goals were even strength goals in a 8-2 victory over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders.
The 19-year-old from Olomovoc, Czech Republic, leads the Hitmen in scoring with 33 points (18G-15A) in 15 games played. Brendl was selected fourth overall by the New York Rangers in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
