43 WHL alumni to compete for CIS title

CANADA-WEST CONFERENCE REPORT – 43 former Western Hockey League players will participate in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport Men’s Hockey National Championship game on Monday in Edmonton.

rThe no. 1 ranked University of Alberta Golden Bears will face the no. 5 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies in today’s University Cup final, making it an all-Canada-West conference affair.

rThe Golden Bears, who are seeking their 11th CIS championship, earned a berth in the final by beating the University of Manitoba Bisons 5-1 on Sunday.

rThe Huskies, who haven’t allowed a goal in two tournament games, made it to the championship game by beating the University of Western Ontario 3-0 on Sunday.

rThe Bears roster boasts 25 former WHLers while the Huskies feature 18 WHL alumni.
